So much to do, so little time… Do you often feel overwhelmed about all the projects and to-do's that take up your time? Most days, do you wish you had just another few hours in the day or an extra day in the week, just to get caught up?
It seems as if life is speeding up, months and years passing at an ever increasing pace. It's as if our life is - at least partially - getting away from us. Do you ever feel that way? The daily demands and busyness taps most of your energy and some of the truly important things in your life get put on hold, or pushed out to "sometime later"… I'd like to empower you. Empower you to make decisions that are truly aligned with what really matters to you. I'd like to empower you to say "no" more often, in favor of saying "yes" to what makes you really come alive. But the thing is - I can NOT. In fact, nobody except YOU can empower you. Sure, others can support you and to some extent "have your back", be your cheerleaders, but only YOU can truly give yourself the power to choose. To make choices that are aligned with YOUR true priorities. It's often NOT going to be comfortable or easy but in the bigger picture, don't you want to live a life that is really YOUR life, living it to its fullest? One place to start is to take a good look at all your to-do's and commitments, and question the WHY behind each of them. Write out all the projects, to-do's, demands, and commitments you have for THIS week. For each task, ask yourself: Why would I honor this task with my precious time and energy? For any task that does NOT have a crystal clear WHY, take a moment to explore further:
With your increased clarity, now empower yourself!
Does this mean that we will only say "yes" to the fun stuff? Of course not. However, it does mean that we can find meaning even with the most boring, tedious or excruciating tasks - by getting clear on the WHY. For example, I recently completed our tax return. This is probably the least favorite task of my whole year! I'd MUCH rather fold mountains of laundry, clean out the gutters, or go to the dentist… BUT since I am very clear about the WHY behind this task, I get TO it, and complete it with the least amount of procrastination possible! ;) That leaves me with more time to do what fills me up, feels meaningful and makes me happy! Now, go empower yourself. Commit to spending your time (life!) in a way that's truly meaningful! I'd LOVE to know: What will you say "YES!" to?
